Travel Beauty Must Haves

It’s finally that time of the year when we’re going away for a few days, absolutely thrilled that we’ll soon get to enjoy our well-deserved vacation. Bye-bye glass walls and deadlines, we’re off to where the sun shines and the sand warms up the feet! But – before we do leave – we first need to pack.

A lil’ intro

How come no matter how many times we write the list of essentials, we always happen to forget something? Yes, we went through it so many times that we lost count! However, they don’t say live-and-learn for nothing, and this time we’ve learned… well, at least we hope so.

To spare you the headache of making lists and potentially forgetting to bring something of the essence for your trip, we’ve worked out the fail-safe travel beauty must-haves that’ll help you enjoy your summertime without having to worry about anything.

While on the plane

Travel beauty must haves

Bring your tooth kit, earplugs and eye mask. Depending on the airline you are traveling with, you might be offered some (or all) of these, but it’s always better to bring your own just in case.

Pack your muscle cream, natural Cosmedix moisturizer and pillow spray immediately! Why? Waking up with a sore neck isn’t really pleasant, is it? That’s why you’ll need muscle cream close by. While on the flight, your skin will pretty much lose all of its moisture, and you’ll want to prevent the damage as much as possible. With a thick layer of your favorite moisturizer, it can all be repaired. The pillow spray is an added luxury, we agree.

Don’t leave without your deodorant, wet wipes and painkillers. Wet wipes are the best invention of all times, really. After you’ve been on a flight for 5+ hours, you’ll probably be sweaty and smelly, or you’ll simply want to freshen up – that’s what they are for! The same goes for deodorant, although you should never apply it to sweaty skin. Painkillers are a must if you happen to get motion sickness or headaches from the AC, or if you start feeling any other type of pain.

When in the hotel

Travel beauty must haves

You already know it – the hotel provides most of the essentials, like shower-gel frills, shampoo and conditioner, but there are some essentials you need to bring yourself.

There’s virtually nothing more important to bring on a holiday than sunscreen; we recommend using no lower SPF than 30.

Treating your skin with sunscreen is important for two reasons. First, you want it to stay healthy, elastic and glowing, and prevent it from getting sunburned since that could lead to more serious issues. And second, you want your swimwear to look fabulous once you show it off on the beach – otherwise, your sunburn lines will not only hurt but also look awful (sorry if that was offensive, but it’s true; nobody can look fabulous in swimwear while sporting the lobster-red skin!).

Remember: Body and face sunscreens are two different things.

Pack both your body lotion and your body oil (if they can fit into your suitcase); the body lotion should be applied after the beach and the oil should be used for a night out or in. You’ll want to reapply the oil just before your bedtime so your skin absorbs as much moisture as it can overnight.

Although you’ll probably spend most of the days with your hair wet (or in a bun), pack your straightener or curlers and salt spray. With the right set of stylers and a product as phenomenal as salt spray – you’ll have the ultimate beachy tousled look all day long.

Make-up essentials

Travel beauty must haves

No make-up necessary. You’ll get tanned, and that’s all you need.

Ahhhh, fine! You can bring some but don’t overdo it. Here’s what we suggest: A concealer and highlighter for when you need to cover up the dark spots that won’t go away, eyebrow products to fill those babies in (a pencil is enough), a waterproof mascara to give your eyes a little pop, lip balm and your favorite lipstick. Wear your lip balm every day to keep your lips moisturized and the lipstick only when the right occasion presents itself – like when you get invited to a yacht party, or something similar.

Oh, and one more thing – don’t forget to bring your best mood with you, and have fun!

Enjoy your Summer Vacations

One thing that I’ll add to the list is disinfectant wipes – I’m a bit of a germaphobe and they don’t clean airplanes very well so it’s a good idea to clean your little area, especially the table!!
