TraveLog : Shanghai – II

Hello Fam,

I am talking more about Shanghai in this TraveLog post. I hope you checked my earlier Blog on Shanghai where I had shared Do’s & Don’t before travelling to China and Places to See in Shanghai. If you have not read it, I would love you to check it here. In this post I will be talking about the most beautiful place in Shanghai, The Bund and places to eat/shop. And yeah , My focus in relating my travel post to fashion is my priority. So all the fashion lovers, you are not going to be disappointed from this post.

Best Time to Visit Shanghai

The time when we were in the Shanghai city was fabulous. We travelled in Middle of March. The transition from Winter to Spring had just started and the streets were full of Flowers blooming. It made the city look more beautiful. Weather was perfect during the day and would get little chill at nights. It might rain once in a while during this season because of which the next best time to visit is during comfortable Cool Autumn. In between September and November when temperature is perfect and no rain stops the day. Summers are extremely hot here and Winters make the Urban Exploration less enjoyable. To conclude here Best Months to visit Shanghai are March to May and September to November.

Favorite Spot in the City – The Bund

My personal favorite sport of the city is The Bund. Can you believe if I tell you we went there twice during our stay. Yeah no kidding. We did go to The Bund once in the evening to see the beautiful Shanghai Skyline all lit and reflecting in the Huangpu River. What a beautiful view it was. The second trip we did to The Bund was during the day. The architecture and buildings are of various styles. I loved the Art Deco styled buildings there. This area is crowded most of the times. You will see people taking pictures and selfies everywhere. There were small stalls for light munching or buying souvenirs also from place to place. My advice, if you want great pictures in Shanghai, this is your place. You can get great clicks during the day. Though my favorite was in the evening walking there holding hands with my love and enjoying the great view of Shanghai skyline.

Eat & Shop

Oh this city has one of the best restaurants and shopping streets. I loved the food in Shanghai. The taste is so different from what we eat in the name of Chinese. Lol. And to my surprise, Most of the people are vegetarian. I mean, I had this assumption that Chinese eat a lot of Non Vegetarian Dishes. Points to remember : You are served Hot water or Chinese Tea in restaurants with the meals. If you need Ice Cold Water you have to specially ask for it. Also Chopstick is the way to eat all the meals. If you ask them, they give the silverware sets also. I had my struggles eating Rice with Chopstick. I was Kind of Successful (No, I ended up asking for Spoon). Explore Xintiandi & The French Concession for good food and drinks. If you are Starbucks fan (like me), you do not want to miss the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Shanghai which is one of the few in whole world. An experience not to be missed.

Shopping can be real fun in Shanghai. You name a designer brand that they do not have in Xintiandi. The area is lit with string lights which looks beautiful in evening. I can bet you will not be able to cover all the shops in one evening. But that is not the only area where you have the shops. If you are looking for authentic Chinese Market, Nanjing Road is your destination. Local shops selling all kind of sweets, clothes, accessories and what not. The best part was you can negotiate the prices in this market. I mean what a fun experience it was to shop in Nanjing Road.
